Privacy Policy
Last Updated: June 26, 2026
At Gitignore.com, we prioritize your privacy. This document outlines the types of information we collect and how we utilize it.
1. Client-Side Generation
Our tool runs entirely in your web browser. No ignore rules, custom configurations, source filenames, or environment patterns that you search, choose, or type are uploaded to our servers or stored externally. All .gitignore assemblies are performed locally client-side.
2. Analytical Data Collection
We may use minimal website analytics tools to track general traffic trends, bounce rates, and popular templates selected. This tracking collects aggregated, anonymous data (such as browser type, operating system, and pages visited) and does not identify individuals.
3. Cookies
We may use cookies to persist template settings or user interface configurations (e.g. your deep-link variables) to improve your browsing experience. You can choose to reject cookies in your browser settings without affecting the functionality of the generator.
4. Contact Inquiries
If you contact us via the contact form or email, we will only use your provided email address and name to respond to your specific query. We do not sell, rent, or distribute your email address to marketing list vendors.
